Sensorial:
We believe in educating the child through the use of their senses: smell, touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste. To educate the senses by exploration, Montessori devised materials that defined the senses and stimulated them. The sensorial activities refine the child’s senses, give order to what they see and broaden their awareness of objects. It's main aim is to put the child in contact with his environment through the isolation of his senses for example; The Montessori bells teach the child the pitch and tone of music notes.
At D2 Montessori and through the use of the sensorial materials your child will explore the following senses:
Sight, touch, smell, taste, hearing, weight, temperature, thermic, muscular memory, stereognostic.
“The senses are points of contact with the environment. The child who has worked with our sensorial equipment has not only acquired greater skill in the use of his hands, but has also achieved a higher degree of perceptiveness towards those stimuli which come from the environment. Our sensorial material classifies the impressions that each sense can receive. Our apparatus for educating the senses offers the child a key to guide his exploration of the world”
